COMDEX Score
A composite percentile ranking, from one to one hundred, that combines an insurance company's financial-strength ratings from A.M. Best, Standard and Poor's, Moody's, and Fitch. A company must be rated by at least two agencies to receive one. It offers a quick way to compare carriers, which matters because every guarantee rests on the insurer. Check current agency or regulator records because ratings, scores, and coverage details can change. Any guarantee is backed by the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurer.
